American Management Systems Denver, CO April 1995 - January 2000
Technical Architect / Business Unit Chief Technology Officer
The role of Business Unit CTO is to provide strategic technical guidance to the corporation and ensure proposed architectures utilize leading edge technologies. The CTO serves as the lead technical mentor. For example, I created a technical laboratory that allows our business development team to build prototype systems for potential clients and technical staff the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a non-production environment. As a member of the CTO Council, I report monthly to AMS's CTO and business unit senior staff.

Worked as a Technical Architect with U S WEST performing business process reengineering to re-architect their IT systems. Interviewed U S WEST staff to create a technical specification of the current repair application. Analyzed results and built an open system architecture for the Repair system, ensuring full flow-through of their systems and provision of optimal customer service levels. Created a detailed paper demonstrating a multi-phased rapid development approach to implementation of a custom work flow management software application. The application would perform all functions required by U S WEST internal users, internal IT departments and their customers. Proposed an architecture that would utilize an open system framework with a transaction-based middleware and a Microsoft Visual C++ front-end. This architecture would provide internal systems users with a new GUI interface to access multiple legacy systems.

Senior Technical Manager
Served as the Logical Datamodeler and Technical Architect with U S WEST for a new system utilizing multi-tier client server technologies. The system, using custom written triggered interfaces, interfaced with both IBM mainframe and HP/UX systems. It utilized an Oracle database located on a middleware TUXEDO server that interfaced with a Visual C++.

Temporarily relocated to London, England, to manage a group of 170 technical staff responsible for: ensuring the successful implementation of Cellnet and BT Mobile's ForCe2000 system; providing ongoing maintenance; supporting over 200 project personnel; administering a Novell LAN; and technically supporting multiple operating systems, including OS/2 Warp, Windows 3.x, Windows NT 3.51/4.0 & Windows 95. Built and provided technical support of an OS/2 Warp PC development environment, which offered mainframe developers a LAN-based batch and CICS development/testing environment. Built, designed, implemented, and managed a project help desk Intranet utilizing Netscape Enterprise Server 3.0. Specified and implemented the infrastructure for two new facilities with over 150 users, using two Novell 4.12 servers and four Lotus Notes servers. Supported seven Lotus Notes servers and five Novell 4.12 servers in six locations within England.
